Lesson notes to become part of criteria for promoting teachers

Mr. Jacob Kor, the acting Director of the Ghana Education Service has said the GES is disappointed in teachers who are teaching without any teaching guide.

According to him, a recent survey by the Inspectorate Board had revealed that 45 per cent of teachers now teach without lesson notes, saying this is rather worrying.

The Direcor-General was speaking during a familiarisation tour of the Western Regional Directorate of Education.

He said over the years, lesson notes had been critical in teaching and learning at all levels of education, but wondered why teachers were gradually abandoning such an important practice.

Mr. Kor has, therefore, issued a warning to teachers to go back to the practice of preparing lesson notes or lose out on promotion.

Mr. David Afram, the Western Regional Director of Education , expressed gratitude for the visit and entreated the acting head to work on the restoration of allowances and benefits for teachers in remote areas.
