Petty Traders support Police Command

The United Petty Traders Association in Kumasi, as part of efforts to help the police curb crime, has presented computers, accessories and benches valued at GH¢3,000.00 to the Ashanti Central Divisional Police Command.

Mr Richard Nkrumah, Public Relations Officer of the group, handing over the items at a short ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday, said the gesture was to support the police to efficiently fight crime and bring it to the barest minimum within the city.

He said it was also to strengthen ties with the police and to ensure a peaceful business environment for traders.

Receiving the gifts, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Enoch Adutwum Bediako, Ashanti Central Divisional Police Commander, thanked the Association and assured them of their judicious use.

He said the gesture would boost the morale of the personnel, to do more to combat violent crime.

ACP Bediako said: “Policing is a shared responsibility,” and urged the public to emulate the group and support the police service.

Superintendent Stephen Kwakye, the Ashanti District Police Commander and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aba Afari, the Divisional Crime Officer, were among dignitaries present at the ceremony.
