Gov’t opens one-stop Centre for agencies

The National Information Technology Authority (NITA) in collaboration with Huawei Technology, has opened a One-Stop Service Centre (OSSC) in Accra for some selected government agencies.

The agencies are the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Ghana Minerals Commission, the Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB), the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the National Communications Authority (NCA).

These agencies which are housed in the Circle Branch of the Ghana Post, would receive complaints concerning their services, and serve as the transaction point for anyone who might need their services.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Centre, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah, Minister of Communications, said the establishment of the Centre would reduce the stress that people go through when they needed the services and information about the seven agencies.

“This OSSC will allow one to conduct several business transactions at one point, without the hustle of having to move from one place to the other,” he added.

He said very soon government would bring on board other agencies to be hooked onto the OSSC.

He said all the agencies at the OSSC were technologically linked to all their branches in Accra, and therefore any transaction or complaints reported would be appropriately addressed.

The Minister explained the establishment of the OSSC had come about due to government’s commitment towards the development of ICT in the country.

Dr Omane-Boamah said government would continue to work to ensure that similar OSSCs were established in all the regional capitals.

Mr William Tevie, Director-General of NITA, said NITA which was responsible for all government Information Technology initiatives, would continue to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and services to Ghanaians.

He appealed to the seven agencies to endeavour to give quality services to their customers.
