Commodore Griffiths Evans takes over Command of Tamale Air Force

Air Commodore Griffiths Santrofi Evans has assumed office as the Garrison Commander of the Tamale Air Force Station following a short but solemn event in which his predecessor was symbolically pulled out of the barracks to mark to retirement. Some onlookers were moved to tears when Air Commodore Philip Ayisa, who became the Tamale Garrison Commander in 2009, went through the motions of the military custom, performed to pave way for a successor to take office.

Commodore Ayisa advised the Air Force staff to support the new Commander to succeed, saying hard work and determination were needed to improve the security of the nation to ensure sustained socio-economic growth.

He expressed gratitude to the staff of the Ghana Armed Forces for their good service in protecting the territorial boundaries of the nation and encouraged them not to relent.

Air Commodore Ayisa was commissioned into the Ghana Air Forces on 18th October 1978. He attended the Junior and Senior Division courses in 1993 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

He attended his Flight Safety Course in the USA in 2000 and several other critical courses thereafter.

He was also appointed an Officer Commander at the Flying Training School and rose to become the Officer Commanding the Flying Wing of the Air Force Base at Takoradi.
