Take up reading as a habit – Librarian

Miss Beatrice Ampadu, a librarian in charge of the Lartebiokorshie Library of the Ghana Library Board, has advised parents to prevail upon their children to take up reading as a habit to enhance quality education in the area.

She also drew the attention of parents to the important role of education in the nation’s development, and advised the school children to visit the library to improve their learning.

Miss Ampadu gave the advice at the weekend when she received assorted books worth 1,000 dollars, donated by Janok Foundation, a community-based non-governmental organization at Sabon Zongo in the Ablekuma Central Constituency.

The books were mainly on social science, literature, social studies and health.

She appealed to individuals and organisations to support community libraries to improve the standard of education in schools in the area.

Miss Jane Amerley Oku, Chief Executive Officer of the Janok Foundation, said the donation formed part of efforts to reach out to needy communities in the NGO’s area of operation, and the country at large.

She reminded parents that education was the best legacy they could leave to their children to enable them to meet future challenges.

Madam Oku urged Ghanaians to respect the rights of children, and to ensure their development to enable them to grow into responsible adults.
