Pusiga Assembly to prioritize education

Mr Alhassan Akolibillah, District Chief Executive for Pusiga, has said the assembly had put in place workable plans to promote quality education in the District.

Mr Akolibillah said these are provision of classrooms, textbooks, pens, school uniforms and incentives for teachers to motivate them to give off their best.

He told the GNA in an interview that the district was new if attention was given to education, poverty, poor health, poor sanitation and poor human relations would be issues of the past.

Mr Akolibillah said the government alone could not provide funds to develop the new district and that the Assembly intended to collaborate with development partners including non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to help achieve the intended goals.

He said the Assembly would emphasize girl-child education since the district for some time now had recorded low enrollment for girls and appealed to parents not to be reluctant in sending their children to school.

He commended government for giving the area a district status and said it would involve people at the grassroots in local governance.
