MTN Ghana Foundation fetes about 500 orphans

MTN Ghana Foundation at the weekend feted over 500 orphans in Kumasi and supplied them with educational materials costing about GH¢15,000.00.

These included reading and exercise books, pens and pencils.

The kids were selected from five orphanages, SOS Children’s Home, Children’s Home, All Nations Home, Save Our Lives and Esaase Orphange.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Commercial Head, MTN Northern Ghana Business Unit, said this was part of their corporate social responsibility.

He said they were not only in to do business but to give back part of the benefits to the society and MTN would therefore continue to be associated with efforts at bringing smiles on the faces of the poor, the vulnerable and the socially disadvantaged.

The company would also support community development projects.

The kids were treated to food, fruit drinks and music. There were also games and dance competitions and those who excelled received MTN souvenirs.

Mr Joel Agyemang, President of the Fire Rock Foundation, an NGO, that played pivotal role in the selection of the children and organization of the event, thanked the company and asked that it was held annually to bring happiness to the kids.
