E.P. College of education students unhappy over unpaid allowances

Tension is brewing between authorities and students of E.P. College of Education, Bimbilla, in the Northern Region, over delay in payment of accumulated allowances since October 2011 to August, 2012.

The development, according to reports, is adversely affecting academic work as students are compelled to seek support elsewhere rather than being on campus to study.

“We have no choice than to seek alternative from other quarters. In fact, life is not easy at all because authorities have refuse to pay our allowances for twelve months now,” an aggrieved student who pleaded for anonymity submitted.

Though students of the institution were yet to receive their allowances, it is widely believed the situation is not the same in other colleges of education in the country.

While appealing to authorities to immediately address their plight, the students also served notice of hitting the streets to press home their demands, if government fails to adhere to their call.

Government pays annual allowance to students of all teacher training institutions to financially cushion them throughout their period of study.
