Power cuts deny Jomoro the chance to watch the burial ceremony

People in the Jomoro District were denied watching the burial ceremony of the late President on television when for two days Electricity power cuts disrupted their transmission.

There were electricity blackouts around 1000 hours on Wednesday and 1410 hours on Thursday at Half Assini and this affected the GBC station in the District.

Mr. Ernest Nbora, a GBC Technician at the area told the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini that the modulator and the equalizer of the Transmission Exister were weak and they could not work after a power cut.

He said the Jomoro District GBC station needed an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) equipment which costs GH?400.00, to give a stable power supply to the transmitter and the Assembly has been contacted for assistance.

Mr. Amadu Abudu, Jomoro District Coordinating Director, said that the Assembly was ready to support the procurement of the UPS and they were expecting the Jomoro GBC officials to come over for discussions.

He said the Assembly is working hard to help provide needed structures for the installation of a digital TV station in the District next year.

Mr. Moses Osei, Jomoro ECG Manager, said the power outage on Wednesday was caused by a tree that fell on the lines between Tikobo Number One and the Nuba Communities and the power cut on Thursday was from Glico.

He expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the public in Jomoro.**
