National Women’s Forum opens

The 13th edition of the National Women’s Forum has opened in Accra on Thursday with a call on women to always aim higher for excellence.

“In your vocation, and in whatever you do, you must strive to give of your best, nothing less. And this will prepare you for opportunities and greatness in your endeavor,” Reverend Marilyn Opoku-Acheampong, Course Director of College of African Professional Writers and Journalism said.

She said to get to the highest position or achieve one’s dreams called for diligence and commitment.

“If you are able to do that no matter where you find yourself people will pursue you for excellence,” she added.

The two-day forum was being organized by the Centre for Responsible Democracy – Africa (CRD) in collaboration with the gender Development and Resource Centre, GIMPA for selected women Associations from the public sector.

It is under the theme, “Achieving excellence a tool for climbing the corporate ladder” and aimed at striking the balance between the professional career of the corporate woman and the role she plays socio-culturally within the family settings.

Dr. Charles Akuetteh, Executive Manager, Risks Management, First Capital Plus, urged women entrepreneurs, to rub shoulders with their male counters wherever they find themselves.

That, he said, they could do easily through networking and actively participating in workshops and seminars, to empower themselves.

He said a good entrepreneur was the one, who had all the skills, including communication, personal, leadership and negotiation skills, to buy into his ideas to build up the business.

The national women's forum was designed for women in middle and top level management positions, to equip them with both professional and family life improvement program.**
