Trades Union Congress (TUC) affiliate unions express condolences

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Ghana, and the Construction and Building Materials Workers Union (CBMW) both of the TUC, have expressed their condolences to the First Lady, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, and the rest of the family, following the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills, which occurred last Tuesday in Accra.

In a press release issued and signed by Mr. Gilbert Awinongya, acting General Secretary, the ICU said, “The acting General Secretary, The National Executive Council (NEC) leadership and the entire membership, is saddened and flooded in tears on hearing about the sudden departure of our President, Teacher, Brother, Statesman and Comrade”.

The Union said it believed that the call to glory of Comrade Atta Mills had brought “sudden unity among all political parties in Ghana and has united Ghanaians better than before".**
