FGJ mourns President Mills

Pressure group, Forum for Governance and Justice (FGJ) on Wednesday expressed regret at the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, describing it as a “sad and shocking event”.

In a statement issued in Accra, it said the late President had forever transformed the nation in several ways, especially in the growth of our democratic culture.

“As we mourn our late President, the man of peace, the humble, the tolerant, and the respectful man who always placed his people and his nation first, we can only call on the good people of Ghana to join us in honoring him by actualizing the good qualities he has bequeathed to us,” the statement said.

The statement was signed by Dr. Clement A. Apaak, Convener, and Dr. Samuel C. K. Buame, a leading member.

President Mills passed away on Tuesday at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after having been taken ill earlier in the day.

The statement said the FGJ considered the achievements of “this noble son of Ghana, of Africa and of humanity, as a great legacy, which is worthy of honour”.

It wished the new President, John Dramani Mahama, who was sworn in on Tuesday night, well as he takes over the leadership of our nation.

“We have no doubt that he has the needed qualities and personal attributes to continue the good works of his predecessor. We believe that the people of Ghana will rally behind President John Dramani Mahama in this difficult time in the history of our nation,” the statement said.**
