Omanhene asks the public to support Police Service

Corporate institutions, philanthropists and civil society organisations have been asked to reach out to the police by providing them with the necessary assistance to enable them perform their duties effectively.

Nana Karikari Appau, Omanhene of the Bekwai said it was expected of stakeholders to complement government’s efforts in the area of logistical support such as the provision of vehicles, accommodation and police posts to deepen their commitment to maintain law and order.

Nana Appau who was interacting with the Bekwai Police Command at Asante-Bekwai, acknowledged the critical role the police played in the development endeavours of the society.

The police, he said, had since independence been instrumental in maintaining peace and stability of the nation and therefore they ought to be given the needed encouragement to work as expected of them.

The interaction formed part of his tour of some agencies and departments to foster good relationship with Traditional Council.

Nana Appau urged the residents to at all times be willing to provide the necessary information to the police as and when possible to facilitate their work.

He commended the Municipal Police Command for their tireless efforts in bringing down the crime rate to the barest minimum and advised them to work harder to sustain the momentum.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Daniel Amoako, Municipal Police Commander, thanked the Omanhene for his commitment to development issues and assured him that his outfit would always uphold the code of ethics of their profession.

Other institutions the Omanhene visited included the Ghana National Fire Service, National Commission for Civic Education and Commission on Human rights and Administrative Justice.**
