Minister says government will not reverse three-year SHS programme

Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, the Central Regional Minister, has said, the government would not reverse three-year Senior High School Education policy.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Gomoa Akroful, to mark their Home Coming Summit on Holy Saturday, she said Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Liberia and Nigeria run a three-year SSS programme.

Mrs Doe said, with well motivated teachers, ICT centres, well stocked libraries, additional classrooms and dormitories, the children could perform well.

Mr Ekow Okyere Panyin, MP for Gomoa East, appealed to parents and guardians in the district to invest properly in their children’s education.

He said education standards in the District were not encouraging and called on stakeholders to team up with the District Assembly and other development partners to reverse the trend.

Mr Panyin expressed concern about the numerous land disputes in Gomoa East, saying, these were affecting development.

Nana Abban Ewudzi III, Chief of Akroful, appealed to the District Assembly to build three classrooms for kindergarten indicating that, land was available for the project.**
