Edwumapa embarks on savings education

Winneba (C/R), Oct 4, GNA - The Winneba-based International Labour Organisation -assisted Edwumapa Co-operative Credit Union (ECCU), has embarked on massive sensitisation programme to inculcate the habit of savings in three administrative areas in the Central Region. The beneficiary neighbourhoods are Awutu/Senya, Gomoa and Affutu. Mr Kingsley Arkoh-Sam, Manager of the ECCU announced this when the sensitisation team explained the tenets of the union to more than 200 peopl= e at Apam, Winneba, Kojobeedu and Dwama communities at the weekend. Mr Arkoh-Sam said the union has plans to assist people who are pursuin= g small-scale businesses in the area to expand production by embracing the habit of savings.

He said if a group of 50 small-scale entrepreneurs decide to come together and formed a credible business entity they would be able to raise GH¢600,000 in six months to qualify them for a big loan to support their ventures. This, Mr Arkoh-Sam explained, could be done through daily savings of GH¢1.00 per a member. Madam Grace Love Osae, Board Chairperson of the Union said the ECCU would continue to give maximum support and encouragement to members of all small-scale entrepreneur groups in the area who had partnered with the body to pave the way for greater achievement to enable them enjoy better lifestyles.
