The Cape Coast Diocesan Gender, Family and Social Intervention Office of the Methodist Church Ghana has organised this year’s World Federation Day celebration at the Elmina East Circuit (Dunwell Methodist Church).

Speaking on behalf of the Bishop of the Cape Coast Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel K. Bassaw, Very Rev Philip Nana Owusu Adjie encouraged members to be open-minded, good listeners and mindful that they would be rewarded for their good works.

The celebration brought together ministers, circuit and society stewards, organisational leaders and members from across the 34 circuits in the Cape Coast Diocese.

Addressing participants, the Diocesan Coordinator, Esther Nana Yaa Ayensu Fianya, who is also the Acting Central Regional Director of the Complementary Education Agency, welcomed participants and expressed her gratitude to the Connexional Director of the Gender Directorate, Very Rev. Comfort Ruth Papafio, for joining the Diocese to celebrate the occasion.

She urged all circuit and society gender coordinators to adequately prepare themselves for the tasks ahead in the coming months.

She also expressed appreciation to the Gender Directorate for facilitating the training of 300 young women aged between 18 and 35 in the Diocese in soap-making and baking.

The training programme was supported by donors and partners, including AGRA, Olam Agri, Mastercard Foundation, Komenda College of Education and the Methodist Church Ghana.

She pledged to mobilise start-up capital to support the beneficiaries in establishing their businesses and achieving financial independence.

The event, held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, also featured breast cancer screening exercises, which benefited participants. A total of 153 people attended the celebration.

The speaker for the occasion, Her Ladyship Hannah Taylor, addressed participants on two themes for this year's celebration:

1. Embodying Christian Values for Creation: The Common Good of Creation.

2. Embodying Christian Values for Creation and Justice.

The Connexional Gender Director, Very Rev. Comfort Ruth Papafio, who joined the Diocese for the celebration, highlighted the impact of the Federation on the lives of its members. She also briefed participants on the international and local activities undertaken by the Directorate.

The Diocesan Lay Chairman, Monica Dede Tekyi-Ansah Yawson, who is also the immediate past Gender Coordinator for the Diocese, urged all circuit gender coordinators to develop action plans to guide their activities in their respective circuits and societies.

She explained that having clear action plans would help keep members actively engaged and ensure that the organisation remained relevant and responsive to their needs.

The celebration also featured a cake-cutting ceremony in honour of the Diocesan Lay Chairman, who marked her birthday on the day.
