The Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi, Yussif Sulemana, has declined a GH¢50,000 donation from Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor intended to support his constituency in the Savannah Region ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) executive elections on November 14, 2026.
Jinapor, who is also the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, reportedly extended financial support totalling GH¢350,000 to all seven constituencies in the region, with each constituency expected to receive GH¢50,000.
The donation is intended to ease logistical challenges, support the organisation of the upcoming elections and promote peace and stability throughout the process.

However, Sulemana, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, said he had asked the Energy Minister to exclude Bole Bamboi from the donation, insisting that he was capable of supporting his constituency independently.
He appealed to Jinapor to redistribute the GH¢50,000 earmarked for Bole Bamboi among the remaining six constituencies in the region.
“It’s true that he donated the said amount of money to support all seven constituencies, including Bole. However, I opted out. I pleaded with him to allow me to handle Bole. The GH¢50,000 meant for Bole should be shared amongst the six constituencies. Insha Allah, I will take care of Bole,” Sulemana reportedly said.
He added that he hoped to join Jinapor in supporting the party financially in the future when his circumstances improved.
“I pray that in subsequent events I will be able to join him in supporting the party. As a deputy minister, I should be able to handle Bole. There is an adage that ‘even at the point of drowning, you still show your hand’. I pledge to join my brother in the future when things are better,” he added.
The development comes amid reports of a political contest between the two NDC figures over the upcoming Savannah Regional executive elections, with each reportedly backing a different candidate for the regional chairmanship.
Osumani Seidu, popularly known as Hon. Weekends, is reportedly backed by Jinapor, while the incumbent regional chairman, Alhaji Imoro Seidu, is said to enjoy Sulemana’s support.
The two political figures are reportedly undertaking various initiatives and campaign activities to boost the chances of their respective candidates and strengthen their political influence in the region.
Reports suggest that the differences in their candidate preferences may be contributing to tensions surrounding the elections, which are expected to be keenly contested.
The contest between Alhaji Imoro Seidu and Osumani Seidu is intensifying, with both candidates reportedly campaigning vigorously to secure the coveted position of Savannah Regional NDC chairman.
