A seven-bedroom residential building has been gutted by fire at Tanoso Electoral Area in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, near the Anglican Church.

The fire broke out at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, destroying household items and other properties in the building.

Residents suspect a gas explosion may have triggered the blaze, although the cause of the fire has not yet been officially established.

Residents, including the Assembly Member for the area, Aron Nandie, said faulty fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment in the surrounding area made it difficult for them to contain the fire before professional help arrived.

Fire officers from Chirapatre later responded to the incident and brought the blaze under control approximately one hour after it was reported.

The fire reportedly destroyed virtually all household items and other belongings in the building, leaving residents unable to salvage much of the property.

The extent of the financial losses and whether there were any casualties remain unconfirmed. The cause of the fire is also yet to be officially determined.
