NPP Ashanti regional secretary applauds party's resilience

NPP Ashanti Region Secretary celebrates successful conference, urges unity for 2028 victory NPP Ashanti Region Secretary celebrates successful conference, urges unity for 2028 victory

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako, popularly known as Francois, has commended party members for their resilience and urged them to prioritise reconciliation and offer unwavering support to the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He has also issued a public apology on behalf of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for any organisational lapses during the just-concluded National Delegates Conference.

Adomako acknowledged that no organisation could deliver a flawless electoral process but said the NPP was an institution that continually learned from its mistakes to emerge stronger and more united.

“We are human, and we do not have a perfect system. Because we are human, we will surely make mistakes along the way. On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, I apologise to all Ghanaians and our party members for any lapses. I personally believe that we must learn from our mistakes and move on as a united family,” he said.

Addressing disagreements and tensions that often arise after high-stakes internal elections, the regional secretary urged party members and delegates to exercise patience and understanding, likening internal party dynamics to marriage.

He said sustained dialogue and continuous engagement at the grassroots level were essential to overcoming post-election bitterness and bringing aggrieved members back into the fold.

“There are times when your wife may disagree with you, but as you go along, you have to keep talking to her. Eventually, she will appreciate your perspective and go along with you. It is the same with politics. Let us keep engaging our people, especially those who feel aggrieved. I believe that through respectful engagement, they will understand our collective goal and walk with us,” Adomako said.

He reassured party members that the NPP had strong and time-tested internal structures, including the National Council of Elders, experienced party leaders and thousands of dedicated members, capable of keeping the party on course.

Adomako also sought to allay concerns about the party’s leadership direction, saying its established structures could provide guidance and support to the flagbearer to ensure that the party’s interests were protected.

“We have various stakeholders, including the National Council of Elders and experienced leaders in this party.

“If at any point along the line things seem to be going wayward, our party leaders will surely sit the flagbearer down and address the issues. We want strong, collective leadership, so let us make sure we support the flagbearer with one heart,” he said.

He concluded by urging party members to remain steadfast, pray for the party and work with unwavering commitment to secure victory in the next general election.
