AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine will hold the maiden edition of its agriculture fair on Friday, October 16, 2026, to bring local farmers, agro-processors, businesses and consumers together.
The AGA Agri Fair 2026 will take place at the Obuasi Municipal Assembly Forecourt from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event is expected to provide a platform for farmers and agro-processors to display and sell locally produced agricultural products while connecting with consumers and potential buyers.
Products to be exhibited include gari and other cassava products, cooking oils, local spices, processed fish, poultry products, cereals, juices, dried fruits and other agricultural products.
Residents of Obuasi and surrounding communities are expected to attend the event and purchase products directly from local producers.
Edmund Oduro Agyei, Director of Sustainability Management at AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, said the fair was intended to improve market access for local producers while promoting value addition and entrepreneurship.
“The AGA Agri Fair, which will be held in partnership with MOFA, Obuasi Municipal and the Obuasi East Municipal Assemblies, provides an opportunity to bring producers and consumers together in one marketplace, while creating visibility and market opportunities for local businesses.
“It is also an avenue to promote value addition and encourage more people to see agriculture and agro-processing as viable avenues for sustainable livelihoods,” he said.
The fair is also expected to provide opportunities for local businesses to interact with potential buyers and business partners.
The event is being held as part of activities marking World Food Day, which is observed annually on October 16.
World Food Day highlights issues relating to food security, agriculture and the livelihoods of farmers and other actors in the food system.
The fair forms part of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s Socio-Economic Development Programme (SEDP), which includes initiatives focused on livelihoods, enterprise and skills development in its host communities.
