Police announce road closures around Baba Yara Stadium for NPP conference

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the temporary closure of selected roads in and around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

According to the Command, the move is to ensure public safety, effective traffic management and security during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference and Elections.

In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, on Thursday, the Command said the following roads leading to the stadium will be closed to vehicular traffic:

To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic, several diversions have also been put in place.

Commercial vehicles from Amakom will proceed straight towards Asokwa, while vehicles from Asafo will be diverted at Bridginia Traffic Lights towards Asokwa or Amakom Traffic Lights.

Additionally, commercial vehicles from LLL towards T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School will proceed straight to Amakom Traffic Lights.

Vehicles from Kumasi City Mall towards Afful Nkwanta Junction will be diverted through Bulldog Restaurant, while traffic from Afful Nkwanta will proceed straight towards Kumasi City Mall.

On parking arrangements, the Police said only vehicles of former presidents and the NPP presidential candidate will be permitted to park at the VVIP Car Park.

Regional delegates arriving by bus and National Party Executives will park at the Heroes Park.

Official police vehicles will park at the Hockey Pitch.

The Command emphasised that all delegates and vehicles attending the event must be duly accredited.

It added that only accredited delegates and vehicles will be permitted access to designated areas and parking facilities.

All motorists have also been directed to display their accreditation prominently and comply strictly with the instructions of police officers deployed to the event.
