The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has honoured dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, as the youth president of the Western Region.

The honour was conferred on Sunday night during the climax of the 2026 NkrumahFest musical concert at the Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School Park in the Ellembelle District.

The concert, which attracted over 20,000 fans, saw Shatta Wale mount the stage to thrill patrons with back-to-back hits, bringing Nkroful to a standstill.

Addressing the crowd, Armah-Kofi Buah said for the past five years, the youth of the Region had persistently demanded Shatta Wale.

"For good five years the youth of the Western Region have been calling me bring Shatta, bring Shatta, bring Shatta and now I understand, Shatta forever," he stated.

He described Shatta Wale as not just an artiste, but a movement that embodies the spirit of the youth, and said his influence, consistency in Ghanaian music and love for Nzema deserved recognition.

On his part, Shatta Wale expressed profound gratitude to Mr Buah and the chiefs and people of Nzema for the honour.

He therefore took the opportunity to call on the good people of Nzemaland and the Western Region to rally behind Mr Buah to accelerate development in the area, and pledged to use his platform to promote Nkroful and the Western Region.

Shatta Wale performed alongside Kofi Kinaata, Nero X, Ackah Blay, Jak Alolome, Mimi Kwaw and Express Gifty, among others.

The concert formed part of activities to commemorate the 117th birthday of Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, on the theme: "NkrumahFest @117: Celebrating his enduring legacy – Africa must unite or perish."
