In a profession largely associated with protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and ensuring public safety, Nti Boateng Emmanuel, a police officer serving in the Upper West Region and founder of the Hope For The Hopeless Foundation, has demonstrated that the spirit of service can extend beyond the traditional boundaries of policing.

Through his humanitarian initiative, Nti Boateng Emmanuel has committed himself to supporting vulnerable children, persons living with disabilities, and families facing difficult circumstances, particularly those struggling to access healthcare, education, and other basic necessities.

One of the interventions that strongly reflects this commitment is the inspiring story of little Alhassan Askanda of Dobile in the Wa Municipality.

Nti Boateng Emmanuel came across Alhassan at a time when the child’s condition had severely affected his ability to walk normally. Recognising the difficulties confronting the young boy and his family, he decided to intervene and explore avenues through which Alhassan could obtain the specialised medical attention he needed.

Through his personal efforts, coupled with support from compassionate individuals and well-wishers, assistance was mobilised to begin Alhassan’s medical journey. As part of the process, Alhassan was taken to the Orthopaedic Training Centre at Walewale, where he underwent several weeks of preparation and rehabilitation before being referred for the required surgical procedure.

The long-awaited breakthrough came on March 26, 2026, when Alhassan successfully underwent surgery at Duayaw Nkwanta. The procedure marked a significant milestone in his journey towards recovery and improved mobility.

From Dobile to Walewale and subsequently to Duayaw Nkwanta for surgery, Alhassan’s journey represents more than a medical intervention. It is a demonstration of what can happen when compassion meets determination and individuals are willing to support a vulnerable child in need.

For Nti Boateng Emmanuel, however, Alhassan’s story is part of a wider humanitarian commitment.
