A VIP bus reportedly caught fire on the Kumasi-Sunyani road on the evening of Saturday, August 15, 2026.

According to multiple reports, the bus, which was travelling from Kumasi to Sunyani, caught fire along the Abuakwa Main Road.

A video from the scene showed the VIP bus completely razed by the fire. The bus was engulfed in flames when personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene.

Some people at the scene expressed frustration over the arrival of the fire service personnel.

They could be heard complaining that the bus had caught fire hours earlier, but the fire service personnel had only arrived after the bus was almost completely burnt.

“The bus is completely burnt; you are now coming. It started burning two hours ago and you are now coming. It has finished burning,” some of the people could be heard saying.

The fire service personnel were unperturbed by the criticisms and proceeded to fight the fire.

It is not clear whether there were any casualties as a result of the incident or the extent of the damage caused.

The cause of the fire is also still unknown, as authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
