The Chief of Kwabre Kenyasi, Barimah Fredua Agyemang, has commissioned a GH¢650,000 ultramodern market facility for residents of Kwabre East Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking at the commissioning on Thursday, August 13, 2026, Barimah Fredua Agyemang said the project was aimed at addressing the problem of market women conducting business along unsafe roadsides.

He said all market women currently trading on the streets would be moved to the new facility to enable them to operate in a safer and more secure environment.

The facility includes modern amenities such as lockable shops, stalls and washrooms, among others.

The chief pledged his continued support for the development of the community.

He, however, appealed to the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly to construct a new bus terminal for the market.

According to him, the terminal would help prevent drivers from indiscriminate loading and offloading along the streets.

For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Joseph Amankwah, commended the chief for the initiative.

He said the Assembly would provide the necessary support to ensure the smooth operation of the market.

Amankwah also called on members of the community to patronise the market for their trading activities to make the facility attractive and encourage others to use it.
