3 dead, 2 injured in gory road crash on Kyebi-Asikam road

At least three people have been reported dead in a road crash on the Kyebi-Asikam road in the Eastern Region.

According to a report by the Ghana National Fire Service, three other people got injured in the road crash, which involved a Toyota RAV4 and a Kia Picanto.

The Ghana National Fire Service indicated that the crash occurred after the Toyota RAV4 collided head-on with a Kia Picanto truck.

The post shared by the service on Facebook indicated that the Toyota RAV4 lost control and veered into the opposite lane before leading to the collision.

It said that the deceased were occupants of the Kia Picanto truck.

“‎The Kibi Fire Station responded to a fatal road crash involving a Toyota RAV4 and a Kia Picanto on the Kyebi–Asikam road. ‎Firefighters rescued the injured and transported them to Kibi Government Hospital. Unfortunately, three occupants of the Kia Picanto were pronounced dead.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the RAV4 lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Kia Picanto,” parts of the post read.

Photos from the scene of the incident showed the truck, which was loaded with goods, overturned in a bush on the side of the road.

Personnel of the Ghana Fire Service could be seen trying to remove a person who had been trapped in the truck.

The RAV4, however, was completely wrecked and badly damaged.
