The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has assured workers of Adamus Resources Limited that their jobs are safe following the revocation of the company’s Akango, Salman and Nkroful mining leases.

Buah announced the decision to uphold the revocation on Monday, August 10, 2026, when he addressed workers and community members at the Adamus Resources Limited plant site at Salman in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

He was accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Tandoh; the Director of NAIMOS, Col. Appiah; staff of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Minerals Commission; the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Joseph Agyekum; and a number of journalists.

The Minister said the revocation, which took immediate effect, followed a careful and comprehensive review of a petition submitted by the company after the initial revocation on Sunday, April 26, 2026, over alleged breaches of Ghana’s mining laws.

The affected concessions are located across the Ellembelle District and Nzema East Municipality in the Western Region.

He directed the Minerals Commission to assume administrative oversight of the company to ensure an orderly transition and continuity of operations.

Buah stressed that the revocation would not jeopardise livelihoods and assured workers that their jobs would be safeguarded throughout the process.

The Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council in the Ellembelle District, Awulae Blay IX, on behalf of his chiefs and queen mothers, declared their full support for the Minister.

Awulae Blay IX welcomed the government’s decision and appealed to the Lands and Natural Resources Minister and the government to bring in a new mining investor who would listen to the concerns of the people of Ellembelle and contribute to the development of the area.

Immediately after the announcement, residents of Salman took to the streets to celebrate and thank the government for listening to their concerns.

The residents urged the government to bring in a new mining investor to develop the community, claiming that Adamus Resources Limited had not undertaken any significant development project in the area.

They also appealed to the government to reconstruct the deplorable road network from Teleku Bokazo to Simpa Junction.

The Ministry reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting jobs and legitimate investments in the mining sector while ensuring strict compliance with Ghana’s mining laws and the terms and conditions under which mineral rights are granted.
