Eighteen people sustained injuries after a passenger bus overturned at Adele-Kpoe on the Tema–Akosombo Highway.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, prompting personnel from the Kpong Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to respond to a distress call.
According to a statement issued by the GNFS on August 6, 2026, firefighters arrived at the scene to find the Mercedes-Benz bus, with registration number AS 427-09, overturned after veering off the road.
“The bus was travelling from northern Ghana to Ashaiman when it suffered a front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control before the vehicle somersaulted,” the statement said.

The crash left one passenger trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters successfully extricated the victim before all 18 casualties were transported to the Akuse Government Hospital for medical treatment.
"Our firefighters successfully rescued the trapped occupant before all casualties were conveyed to the Akuse Government Hospital for medical treatment," the statement indicated.
The Service urged motorists to ensure their vehicles, particularly their tyres, are in good condition to help prevent similar road accidents.
