The Volta River Authority (VRA) has announced plans to institutionalise regular clean-up exercises across all its operational areas following its participation in the nationwide sanitation campaign aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier Ghana.

The Authority's Chief Executive, Engineer Edward E. Obeng-Kenzo, joined staff at various VRA work locations as they participated in the National Clean-Up Exercise, reaffirming the organisation's commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being.

Addressing staff after the exercise, Obeng-Kenzo commended their dedication and patriotic spirit, describing their active participation as a demonstration of VRA's unrelenting commitment to environmental stewardship.

He further announced that the clean-up exercise would be institutionalised across all VRA operational sites to ensure sanitation and environmental protection become an integral part of the Authority's corporate culture and operational activities.

Edward E. Obeng-Kenzo praised President John Dramani Mahama for reintroducing the National Clean-Up Exercise, describing the initiative as a timely intervention that will strengthen environmental sanitation, improve public health, and promote a renewed sense of civic responsibility among Ghanaians.

The nationwide exercise forms part of broader efforts to encourage public institutions, private organisations and citizens to actively support the government's sanitation agenda by maintaining clean surroundings and protecting the environment.

The VRA boss also called on Ghanaians to embrace the shared responsibility of environmental conservation, stressing that sustainable sanitation practices are essential to building healthier communities and safeguarding the country's natural resources for future generations.

The Authority reiterated that collective action remains key to achieving a cleaner, greener and more environmentally resilient Ghana.
