The family of the late Apostle Emeritus Dr Ing. Kwadwo Safo has officially unveiled specially designed funeral cloths ahead of the national farewell ceremonies for the renowned industrialist, signalling the start of preparations for his final rites.

The two cloth designs, which will serve as the official attire for the ceremonies, were introduced by the family during a media briefing in Accra on Friday, May 29, 2026.

A black-and-red cloth bearing the image of the late Apostle has been designated for the burial and main funeral rites, while a black-and-white cloth will be worn during the thanksgiving service in Kumasi.

Head of the family and daughter of the late industrialist, Sarah Adwoa Safo, who addressed the media alongside her siblings, extended family members, leaders of the Kristo Asafo Mission, and members of the Funeral Planning Committee, emphasised the importance of adhering to the approved dress code to ensure uniformity and dignity throughout the ceremonies.

“We want the events to be orderly and colourful. If everyone follows the directive, it will reflect the honour and respect our father deserves,” she stated.

The unveiling of the cloths forms part of broader funeral arrangements for the celebrated founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, whose legacy spans engineering, industrial innovation, and philanthropy.

A fortnight ago, some family members announced June 25, 2026, as the date for the final funeral rites of Apostle Safo, who is revered across Africa and beyond for his contributions to industrialisation, philanthropy, and agriculture.

However, providing clarity on the date, the former Minister for Public Procurement and former Deputy Majority Leader explained that the date was revised after extensive consultations.

“Having consulted all our family members across the world regarding their preparations to come and honour their beloved son, father and uncle, they indicated that the time was too short for them to make adequate arrangements and pay their last respects.

“Therefore, we needed to fix a date that would accommodate everyone, hence July 30, 2026, for the burial at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region,” she explained.

This will be followed by a national farewell ceremony on July 31, 2026, at Independence Square in Accra, where mourners from across the country and beyond are expected to gather dressed in the official funeral cloth.

The final event, a thanksgiving service scheduled for August 8, 2026, will take place in Kumasi, with attendees dressed in the black-and-white cloth to reflect both solemnity and a celebration of life.

“These dates have been sanctioned by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after consultations with Manhyia Palace,” Safo noted.

She called on members of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the general public to participate fully by wearing the designated cloths, stressing that a coordinated appearance would add dignity and unity to the ceremonies.

The family also extended invitations to members of the clergy, traditional leaders, persons with disabilities, and all those who benefited from the late Apostle’s contributions to attend the events.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who passed away on September 11, 2025, is remembered not only as a spiritual leader but also as a pioneer of indigenous industrialisation through ventures such as Kantanka Automobile.
