The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom Constituency, Joseph Azumah, has handed over medical equipment and office supplies worth GH¢200,000 to the Akrofuom District Health Directorate to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.
The presentation, made on behalf of the MP’s Health Fund, included diagnostic and clinical tools alongside furniture and transport equipment to support both medical and administrative work.
Among the items presented were 1 ultrasound scan machine (DP2), 11 digital blood pressure machines, 11 glucometers, scan gel, strips, lancets, 4 laptops, 1 swivel chair, 2 office chairs, 3 tables, 2 units of 3-in-1 chairs, and 2 Apsonic jungle motorbikes.
Joseph Azumah said the equipment would directly improve diagnostic capacity, patient monitoring, and outreach services across health facilities in the constituency.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at Akrofuom on Friday, May 29, 2026, Joseph Azumah urged health officials to ensure the items are put to proper use for their intended purpose.
He stressed that the equipment was meant to reduce the burden on patients and improve access to timely and quality healthcare at the community level.
The MP explained that the donation was funded through his personal Health Fund and forms part of his commitment to complement government efforts in the health sector.
He added that the intervention is aimed at improving the overall healthcare of the people in Akrofuom and addressing critical gaps in service delivery.
Azumah also pledged to do more to support his constituents, stating that he would continue to mobilize resources so residents can fully benefit from President John Mahama’s Free Primary Healthcare policy.
He said the initiative was designed to improve lives by removing financial and logistical barriers to healthcare access in the constituency.
Upon receiving the items, the Acting District Director of Health Services for Adansi Akrofuom, Joseph Kofi Annor, commended the Joseph Azumah and stated that the medical equipment had come at the right time.
He was optimistic that the equipment would help improve the healthcare needs of the people, and promised to use them for their intended purposes.
“On behalf of the District Health Directorate, we are grateful to the Honourable MP for judiciously using his MPs Health Funds to procure this equipment for easy and accessible healthcare delivery, and we promise to take good care of it," he stated.
