Oswald Okaitei named Event Adviser to the Ghana Library Authority

Renowned Ghanaian literary activist and creative arts professional, Oswald Okaitei, has been appointed as Event Adviser to the Ghana Library Authority.

Widely celebrated for his innovative efforts in promoting leisure reading and literary engagement among young people in Accra and beyond, Okaitei brings years of experience in Ghana’s creative and literary space to the role.

Under his new appointment, the multi-award-winning poet, spoken word artist, playwright, and artistic director will provide creative arts expertise, support content development, and facilitate literacy and literary programmes and events organized by the authority.

He will also contribute to the conceptualization, planning, and execution of literacy promotion initiatives aimed at strengthening reading culture and public engagement with libraries across the country.

His responsibilities further include helping to project and uphold the image and reputation of the Ghana Library Authority through strategic collaborations and creative programming.

Known for his result-oriented approach and deep understanding of Ghana’s literary ecosystem, Okaitei has over the years championed several initiatives focused on youth empowerment, storytelling, poetry, and reading advocacy.

His appointment is expected to add fresh creative energy to the authority’s ongoing efforts to redefine and modernize library engagement in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview, Oswald Okaitei expressed his commitment to supporting the institution’s vision and contributing meaningfully to the transformation agenda currently being pursued by the Acting Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Ziblim Alhassan.

According to him, he is determined to use his expertise and experience within the creative arts sector to support efforts aimed at reshaping perceptions about libraries and deepening literacy culture in Ghana.
