The Queen Mother of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nana Tambia IV, has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to society at the Sankofa Pan African Ghana National Motherhood and Legacy Awards 2026 held at the National Theatre in Accra.

Nana Tambia IV, who also serves as an appointee of the Ga South Municipal Assembly, was honoured for her leadership, community service, and dedication to social development.

She was among several high-profile award recipients at the maiden edition of the ceremony, which sought to celebrate mothers and women making significant impact in their communities.

The event highlighted the role of motherhood, traditional leadership, and community engagement in national development.

Organisers said the awards were designed to recognise individuals whose efforts have contributed to strengthening families and uplifting society.

Speaking at the event, Isaac Aidoo, convener of the Sankofa Pan African initiative, said the awards were created to give greater recognition to mothers who continue to play vital roles in shaping society.

He stressed that mothers often go unrecognised despite their significant contributions to community and national development.

The programme also featured the launch of a book titled “Dare To Be A Mother”, which focuses on the importance of motherhood and resilience.

The ceremony brought together traditional leaders, policymakers, and community advocates in celebration of women’s contributions to development.
