The 2024 parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party for the Ahafo Ano North Constituency, Kwaku Fosu Frimpong, has issued a strong rejoinder denying allegations linking him and his supporters to violent disturbances during the recent polling station executive elections at Akwasiase.
In a detailed statement released in response to a press release issued by some constituency executives on May 12, 2026, Fosu Frimpong categorically rejected claims that he sponsored, financed, or deployed individuals to disrupt the electoral process.
Describing the allegations as false, reckless, and biased, he said the statement was politically motivated and intended to tarnish his reputation and mislead party members.
He specifically refuted attempts to associate certain individuals with his political camp, describing such claims as propaganda devoid of factual basis.
Fosu Frimpong cited Emmanuel Bempong, popularly known as Nautica, and insisted that he has no affiliation whatsoever with his team.
“The statement was not based on facts or proper investigations, but on propaganda and political bias,” he stressed.
While condemning the violence that erupted during the elections, Mr. Fosu Frimpong expressed concern over what he described as selective justice and hypocrisy on the part of some constituency executives.
He alleged that two of his supporters sustained serious cutlass wounds during disturbances on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the presence of the sitting Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North, Nana Agyemang Prempeh, and police officers. Despite this, he said, the constituency executives remained silent.
According to him, the same executives later issued statements focusing only on individuals believed to be supporters of the MP, while ignoring the injuries suffered by persons associated with his camp.
He further alleged that he was personally attacked during the violence by a driver linked to the MP, adding that a police officer sustained injuries while intervening to prevent the assault.
He maintained that these incidents are matters of public record and can be verified by the Ghana Police Service.
The former parliamentary aspirant also accused some constituency executives of openly aligning themselves with the sitting MP and rejecting support from him and his associates during previous party activities.
According to him, such actions expose deep-rooted divisions within the constituency and continue to undermine party unity and internal democracy.
“The continuous attempts by some executives to manipulate processes and influence outcomes in favour of individuals they are aligned with are what continue to create tension and confusion within the constituency,” he stated.
Despite the tensions, Fosu Frimpong reaffirmed his commitment to peace, fairness, and unity within the NPP and called on party supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
He also appealed to the Ghana Police Service to conduct an impartial and independent investigation into all acts of violence and misconduct recorded during the elections to ensure justice and accountability.
