There was joy and excitement among mothers from communities within the Nkran Zone when they gathered at the Asanko Football Park at the Contractors Camp for a Mother’s Day celebration organised by Asanko Gold Ghana Limited.
The event brought together mothers from Asanko’s host communities, alongside mothers of employees and business partners, for an afternoon of fellowship, reflection and entertainment centred on appreciation for the role mothers continue to play within families and communities.

The atmosphere was relaxed and lively as invited guests shared meals, conversations and laughter throughout the program.
Participants also took part in a raffle session during which selected mothers received household items, while all invited guests received gifts presented as part of the celebration.

Addressing participants on behalf of the General Manager of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited, Justice Fenteng, Kwamina A. Wood paid tribute to mothers for the sacrifices many continue to make quietly in support of their families and communities.
“The role of a mother is one of the most important and often one of the most demanding responsibilities in society,” he said.
He acknowledged the resilience of women who continue to carry significant responsibilities while supporting both their homes and communities, adding that behind many of the men and women who report to work each day are mothers and women whose sacrifices make those efforts possible.

Wood, speaking on behalf of the General Manager, also recognised the contribution of women within the mining sector, particularly women working within Asanko’s operations, for balancing demanding professional responsibilities with family life.
Speaking on the purpose of the gathering, the company said the initiative was intended to give mothers an opportunity to relax, bond and feel appreciated outside the pressures of daily responsibilities.

For many participants, the event offered an opportunity to step away briefly from their daily routines and spend time together in a relaxed and reflective setting.
