Kwabena Asamoah, former Deputy Director of MASLOC during the Akufo-Addo administration, has emphasised the critical need for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
He made these remarks at the maiden NPP Family Sporting Day event in Kumasi.
The sporting event, organised by the Ashanti Regional Organiser of the party, Francis Adomako, popularly known as Francois, together with Manhyia South Vice Chairman Lawyer Kyeretwie and others, aimed to bring together party members, executives, and community members.
Asamoah highlighted the vital role of grassroots engagement, noting that community sports events not only foster friendship among party members but also serve as effective platforms for garnering support from the wider community.
He stressed that such gatherings are essential for building relationships and ensuring that the voices of young supporters are recognised and valued within the party structure.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, he urged party members to set aside personal differences and unite around a common vision.
“Our strength lies in our ability to come together as one cohesive unit. When we stand united, we can overcome any obstacle and work towards our shared objective of victory in the upcoming elections,” he stated.
According to him, collaboration and solidarity are imperative for the NPP to reclaim power and implement policies that will benefit the nation.
Reiterating the vision of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former MASLOC deputy director affirmed that teamwork is essential for navigating future challenges.
He called on all members to actively participate in outreach initiatives, engage with constituents, and amplify the party’s message. By fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation, he believes the NPP can inspire voter confidence and demonstrate its commitment to addressing the needs of the populace.
He encouraged members to leverage their skills and resources to build a strong campaign that resonates with voters.
Asamoah, who was impressed by the outcome of the event, commended the organisers for the initiative.
He concluded by reiterating the need for such continuous activities to boost the morale of party faithful and community members, a move he believes could help secure victory in 2028.
