The traditional rulers have been urged to take a more active role in the development of their communities instead of relying solely on government support.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Colour Awards Night event, Dr Nana Tano Kaaba I, chief of Enchi Kwahu in the Aowin Municipality, emphasised that the era when chiefs depended entirely on political leaders, individuals, and government interventions for development is over.

According to him, chiefs are the true representatives of their people and therefore have a responsibility to initiate and support development projects within their communities.

He stressed that traditional leaders must not sit back and wait for external assistance but should actively contribute to improving the lives of their people.

Dr Nana Tano Kaaba I further called on development chiefs to collaborate closely with traditional authorities to ensure progress in their respective areas.

He noted that although Ghana is endowed with abundant resources, communities like Enchi Kwahu must also make conscious efforts to utilise these resources for their own growth.

The chief also expressed his gratitude to Elohim Theological College and Seminary for awarding him an honorary doctorate and a UCRA award.

In his remarks, the President of the Seminary, Archbishop Professor Dr Kwame Aburam Anoff Sr, stated that the institution is affiliated with Apostolic University in the United States and is committed to raising men and women with strong leadership qualities grounded in Christian values.

Speaking under the theme, “The Essence of Recognition and the Year Under Review for This Award Ceremony is the Year 2025,” he explained that the event was organised to honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to community development.

He revealed that 15 personalities were recognised for their contributions, while six individuals received honorary doctorates in Human Letters and other fields, along with plaques and medals.

Archbishop Anoff Sr also appealed to individuals, corporate organisations, and traditional leaders to support a project the Seminary is undertaking in the Afajato District in the Volta Region.

Some personalities who received the awards are Dr Dominic Gyasi MCE of Sefwi, Dr Stephen Moocher MCE of Aowin Municipal Assembly and Welbert Bentum Western North Regional Minister.
