A 31-year-old woman, Vivian Anto, has been arrested for allegedly severing her nine-year-old daughter’s toe as punishment for returning home late.

Following the incident, the victim was rushed to Kofikrom SDA Hospital in the Juaboso District, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.

Police say they visited the facility after receiving a report of the assault and confirmed the presence of the young girl with a freshly bandaged right foot. A preliminary medical examination indicated that the injury was caused by a sharp object.

During initial questioning, the victim identified her mother as the person responsible for the act.

The suspect remains in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
