Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has donated GH₵50,000 to support the Ashantifest cultural initiative in the Ashanti Region.
The contribution was made at a ceremony at the Asokwa Interchange in Kumasi, where students and teachers from local schools unveiled a mural created as part of the festival's drive to transform the city's interchanges into public art galleries.
Aseidu Nketiah emphasised the importance of art as a viable career path, saying, "Art is not a hobby; it is a viable career path that can help curb the unemployment that plagues our nation."
He urged young artists to take their craft seriously and view it as an investment in their future.

Ashantifest, launched by Dr Frank Amoakoahene, Ashanti Regional Minister, aims to revitalise public spaces, provide training for students, generate employment, and foster community pride.
The Asokwa Interchange mural depicts Ashanti cultural symbols and contemporary images, symbolising the fusion of tradition and modernity.
Aseidu Nketiah stressed the importance of supporting the arts, saying, "Whether you belong to the NPP, the NDC, or any other group, supporting the arts is supporting Ghana's economic future."
