The Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has distributed food items and 100 bags of cement to Muslims in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western region to support them to observe the celebration of Eid-al-Fitr which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The food items included 100 bags of rice, 100 boxes of cooking oil, 25 boxes of tasty tomatoes paste and 25 boxes of mackerel tomato sauce.
The humanitarian gesture is in line with Dorcas Affo-Toffey's annual support to Muslims in Jomoro to enjoy the Eid celebration with their families as the Holy Month of Ramadan fasting come to an end.
Making the presentation at T1 Mosque on Saturday, March 21, 2026, Dorcas Affo-Toffey who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, commended the Muslims for ending the Ramadan peacefully and successfully.
According to the Jomoro MP, the kind gesture forms part of her continued commitment to the Muslims, having earlier presented assorted food items such as 100 bags of sugar, tea and liptons at the start of the Ramadan.
She took the opportunity to appeal to the Muslims to remember Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama, Ministers of State and MPs in their daily prayers.
"You have done well for ending your fasting and prayers successfully, Ramadan is very important and we have to thank Allah for giving us strength to end the period. I will appeal to you to always remember President John Dramani Mahama, all Ministers of State, MPs and politicians in daily prayers", she called.
She added, "pray for me to get strength and favour to develop Jomoro".
She further pledged her commitment to support the development of the Muslim communities in her Constituency.
"The last time I came here to give you sugar, I promised to give you rice to celebrate your Eid-al-Fitr and today I have honored my promise and I want to place it on record that this is not the first time I have done this gesture, I have been doing it every year and I started this gesture in 2019 when I wasn't the MP. In fact, this year's gesture is extraordinary because I have increased the number of the items and also added 100 bags of cement to it to support the development in our Muslim communities in the Constituency", she stated.
The Jomoro Municipal Chief Imam, Alhaji Siedu Jallo who received the items on behalf of the Muslims, thanked Dorcas Affo-Toffey and offered special prayers for her.
He seized the opportunity to commended Dorcas Affo-Toffey for her continued support to the development of the Muslim communities in the Constituency.
"Our MP has done a lot for us, last year she sponsored one Muslim to go to Mecca and this year too she is sponsoring one Muslim to go to Mecca, currently we are building our own morgue at Half Assini and she has supported us, every year she donates food items to us to celebrate our Eid-al-Fitr, we will continue to pray for us and her team", he said.
The leadership of the Muslim community at T1 appealed to Dorcas Affo-Toffey and the Jomoro MCE to support them to complete their ongoing school building for Muslim kids.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro, Bernard Boadi, urged the leadership of the Muslim communities in the area to make good use of the 100 bags of cement.
He further assured them of the Assembly's support to complete their ongoing school building and called on them to rally behind Dorcas Affo-Toffey to develop the Jomoro Municipality.
