Over six people are feared dead after an ambulance carrying a seven-month-old baby collided with a Ford commercial vehicle on the Kumasi-Sunyani highway.
The ambulance, with registration number GB 527-32, was en route to Kumasi when the accident occurred at Potrikrom on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Eyewitnesses report that the ambulance driver and other survivors are fighting for their lives at Adugyama Hospital.
“The ambulance driver was trapped in the vehicle and severely injured. Rescuers had to cut through the mangled car to free him,” an eyewitness told OTEC News.
The seven-month-old baby, who was on oxygen, is alive and receiving treatment at Adugyama Hospital.
The accident scene was chaotic, with over 30 police officers directing traffic and assisting victims.
Authorities warn that the death toll could rise due to the severity of the crash.
