A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Solomon Reuben Jabari, has strongly denied allegations linking him to illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
His current denial follows a recent circulation that made news headlines that he and his brother were deeply involved in galamsay.
Responding to the said allegations, Jabari, a well-known road contractor dismissed the claims, describing it as a calculated attempt to damage his reputation.
He also described the claims as smear tactics orchestrated to undermine his political ambitions.
According to him, the allegations are being pushed by opponents seeking to derail his bid for the Atwima Kwanwoma NDC Chairmanship.
He believes his growing support within the constituency has unsettled some rivals, prompting what he calls “dubious tactics” to discredit him.
"This is a baseless allegations targeting to stain my reputation. It is very unfortunate that the very moment I declared intention to contest chairmanship bid in my constituency, certain persons are intentionally orchestrating stories against me. I'm not into any galamsey, it's a palpable lie," he said.
Currently serving as the Island City Branch Chairman of the NDC, Jabari is widely considered a strong contender for the chairmanship position in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency.
He has urged the public to disregard the allegations, insisting that he remains committed to the values of the NDC and dedicated to advancing development in his community.
"I assure my supporters and the good people of the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency to remain firm since my commitment to serving the constituency remains resolute".
