The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has undertaken an inspection tour of ongoing drainage and road construction projects across the constituency as part of efforts to improve sanitation, ease transportation challenges and enhance living conditions for residents.
The projects, facilitated through the MP’s office in collaboration with relevant state agencies and local authorities, are currently at their early stages but are expected to be completed within the next few months. When completed, they are expected to significantly reduce flooding, improve road safety and boost economic activities within the constituency.
Ewurabena Aubynn inspected active drainage works at Kwashiebu, Been-To and Awoshie, where contractors are constructing and rehabilitating drains to improve water flow and curb the perennial flooding experienced in those communities.
Engineers on site briefed the MP on the scope of the works, which include desilting, construction of concrete drains and related road improvements.
Addressing residents during the visit, Ewurabena Aubynn expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and assured constituents of her commitment to equitable development across Ablekuma North.
“All 14 areas within the Ablekuma North constituency will receive their fair share of repair and construction works in due course.”
“We are taking a phased approach to ensure that communities with the most urgent needs are attended to, while planning ahead for others,” she said.
She noted that poor drainage and deteriorated roads have for years posed sanitation and mobility challenges for residents, particularly during the rainy season, adding that the current interventions are aimed at providing long-term solutions.
The MP further disclosed that similar road and drainage works are expected to commence soon in suburbs such as Darkuman, Odorkor and other communities, following the completion of preliminary assessments and contractor mobilization.
Residents who accompanied the MP during the inspection welcomed the projects and called for close supervision to ensure quality work and timely completion.
Some also appealed for sustained maintenance and improved waste management to complement the drainage works.
The MP assured residents of continuous monitoring and engagement with contractors and local authorities to ensure that the projects are delivered to standard and bring lasting benefits to the constituency.
“These works are about improving everyday life for our people better sanitation, safer roads and easier movement for businesses, students and commuters,” she said. “I remain committed to working with all stakeholders to transform Ablekuma North.”
The inspection forms part of the MP’s broader development agenda aimed at addressing critical infrastructure gaps and improving the overall welfare of residents in Ablekuma North.
