Davina Arhin, a talented 25-year-old student journalist popularly known as Afia Fosuhemaa, has been named Best Broadcast Journalist at the inaugural Boakye Agyarko Excellence Awards.

The ceremony, organised by the OTEC School of Journalism and Communication Studies, took place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as part of the school’s SRC Week celebrations. It aimed to recognise exceptional students who distinguished themselves during the institution’s Specialisation Competition.

As part of the festivities, students were tasked with designing and presenting their own broadcast programs. Davina’s remarkable performance earned her two top honors: Best Program Host and Overall Best Student Journalist.

In total, 12 students received awards across various categories, including Best News Anchor, Best Reporter, Best Sports Presenter, Best Producer, and Best MCR Technician.

Jacob Agyenim Boateng, Acting Dean of Students at OTEC, applauded all participants for their dedication and singled out Davina for her outstanding achievements.

He also revealed that the awards were named in honor of Boakye Agyarko, aspiring National Chairman of the NPP, in recognition of his continued support for the student body.

“Davina Arhin’s success reflects her dedication and hard work. We are deeply grateful to Hon. Boakye Agyarko for his financial support, which made this event possible,” he stated.

In her acceptance speech, Davina expressed heartfelt appreciation to the school authorities, her peers, and her family.

“I’m truly touched by your support. I’m eternally grateful,” she said.

She also encouraged fellow student journalists to remain consistent in their training and strive for excellence in their craft.
