The Mamprugu Traditional Council has expressed its deepest condolences to the nation, following the tragic loss of eight lives, including two cabinet ministers, in a helicopter crash during an official visit to Obuasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana.

In a statement signed by His Royal Majesty, Tiduguma Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sherigah II, Overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom and President of the North East Regional House of Chiefs, the Council mourned the loss of the distinguished individuals.

"With profound sorrow and heavy heart, I join the rest of Ghana in mourning the tragic loss of eight distinguished compatriots who perished in yesterday's devastating helicopter crash."

The statement paid tribute to the victims, acknowledging that "Their deaths are not just a tragedy for the royalty, but a national loss. They fell in active service to Ghana - a sacrifice that shall not be forgotten. Their memory and contributions will remain etched in the history of our nation, serving as a beacon of patriotism and leadership."

The Council also reflected on the impact of the tragedy, noting that "This heartbreaking incident has cast a deep shadow over our beloved nation. The sudden departure of these noble statesmen - whose lives were marked by selfless service, unwavering dedication, and the pursuit of peace and national development - has created an irreplaceable void in our collective spirit."

In the wake of the tragedy, the Mamprugu Traditional Council urged all Ghanaians to unite in prayer, reflection, and solidarity.

"To all Ghanaians: in this time of national mourning, let us come together in prayer, reflection, and solidarity. Let us uphold the values for which these patriots stood and recommit ourselves to the service of the country and people."
