GNTF appeals for public support

Kumasi, Nov. 27, GNA - Mr Stephen Armah, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the Ghana National Trust Fund (GNTF), has appealed to the public to support the Fund to enable it to fufil its mandate. He said the Fund was established by the first President of Ghana to serve as a national community chest to assist the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the country.

Mr Armah made the call at the 35th Annual Fund Raising Dinner organized by GNTF to solicit funds to undertake projects. He said the Fund had provided financial and logistical support to Leprosy Relief Association, Society for the Blind, Ghana Society for the Deaf, Boys and Girls Brigade, Help Age Ghana and other groups working for the vulnerable.

Mr Armah said the Fund paid the medical bills of deprived children and trained disabled persons to acquire various vocations. Bishop Yinka Sarfo, Anglican Bishop, called on Ghanaians to contribute to the Fund to enable it to support the needy. The Indian community in Kumasi, a regular contributor to the Fund, had presented water purifier, vacuum cleaner, rice cooker, DVD player and kettle for auctioning as well as raffle draw to raise funds to support the Fund. People and organizations that had contributed to the Fund, were give certificates. 27 Nov. 10
