Amansie West Assembly members to get GH¢1,000 as ex-gratia

Manso-Nkwanta, (Ash) Nov 8, GNA - Out-going assembly members in the Amansie West District are to be paid GH¢1,000 each as ex-gratia. The decision was taken by the assembly at its last general meeting held at Manso-Nkwanta. The members have finished their four year-terms and those seeking to return would have to contest the elections scheduled for December 28. Mr Charles Oti-Prempeh, the District Chief Executive, earlier catalogued projects lined up to bring some improvement to the lives of people in the area.

These include the construction of school structures, health and sanitation facilities and markets. He said new classrooms would be built at Akontam, Esaase and Nintin to end the situation where school children in the three communities hold classes under trees. This would be financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The other projects, including an Out-Patients Department, (OPD) block at Essuowin, wards at Manso-Nkwanta Health Centre, a library complex and resource centre at Antoakrom would be funded under the District Development Fund. A police station at Manso-Keniago, a three-unit block of classrooms and washrooms for Manso-Abore and Manso-Doninase schools and market sheds at Manso-Datano, Adubia and Takorase would also be sponsored by the fund.

Mr Asafo Akowua, the Presiding Member, praised the assembly members for their contribution to the progress of the area. He gave them high marks for their commitment to duty, dedication and sense of discipline. 08 Nov. 10
