Awutu-Senya forms revenue mobilization task force

Kasoa (C/R), April 5, GNA - Mr Nuhun Adams, Awutu-Senya District Chief Executive, has inaugurated a 50-member revenue mobilization task force, to improve revenue collection towards the completion of Social Investment Fund (SIF) projects in Kasoa. The SIF in collaboration with the Assembly is executing projects at Kasoa, under the Urban Poverty Reduction Project.

These include the construction of three wards at the Kasoa Health Center, school building at Akweley, expansion of Kasoa new market, construction of teachers' quarters and an Abattoir. The SIF would bear 70 per cent of the cost of the projects and the Assembly was expected to make available 30 per cent counterpart funding. Mr. Adams charged the task force to sensitise the public on the essence of payment of taxes, to generate more funds to supplement the District Assembly Common Fund.

He cautioned the members not to consider the establishment of task force as an opportunity for them to make money. Mrs. Elizabeth Abena Nkrumah, Central and Western Regions Zonal Co-dominator of the Fund, said the SIF projects formed part of efforts by the government to reduce poverty in the area.

She mentioned Apam in the Gomoa West, Agona Swedru in Agona West Municipality and Kasoa in the Awutu-Senya Districts as beneficiary towns in the Central Regions.

Mrs. Nkrumah said some of the projects at Kasoa have been completed and work on others were at a slow pace due to financial constrains facing the Awutu-Senya District Assembly.

She hoped that the task force would work to collect more revenue for the completion of the project as scheduled.

Mrs. Nkrumah on behalf of SIF presented four motor bicycles and a computer to the task force, to enhance its work. Mr. Musah Yahaya Froko, Awutu-Senya District Co-ordinating Director, appealed to the task force to work assiduously to collect more revenue for the development of the area.
