Wa, Feb. 24, GNA - The Dean of the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies of the University for Development Studies (UDS), has called on tertiary students to use the various halls on campus to promote unity and healthy competition among them.

He made the call at the launch of the maiden joint halls week celebrations of the Wa campus of the university in Wa on Tuesday. The week celebration involved Cardinal Dery, Jubilee, Royal, Limann and Upper West halls.
Some of the activities planned for the week included quiz programmes, health screening, movie night, prayer session and clean up exercise at the Wa hospital.
"Students should learn to use the hall system to support their less endowed friends, financially and academically to protect the good name of their halls and avoid indulging in activities that would bring disgrace and disrespect to their halls," Prof. Berinyuu said. He asked the students to be nationalistic in order to be beneficial to the nation at the end of their education.
Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, Deputy Regional Co-ordinating Director who launched the week commended the UDS authorities for instituting the event, pointing out that, it marked the turning point in the history of the university.
He said universities without halls was a complete denial of students their identification and the opportunity to take up leadership roles. "Let transparency in deliberation and accountability be the hallmark of the leadership of the halls," he said.
