Police should respect the law - DCOP Timbillah

Kumasi, Feb. 16, GNA - Police personnel have been asked to be guided by the law in the performance

of their duties and treat the public with dignity and respect. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Patrick Timbila, the Ashanti Region= al Police Commander,

who made the call, cautioned the Police against bullying, unlawful arrest=

and extortion of monies from people. He was receiving a delegation from the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana led by the

Reverend Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Chairperson of the Presbytery that went to invite the Police Officer to

educate members of the church on crime prevention, in Kumasi on Tuesday. DCOP Timbila asked the Police to intensify their fight against crime in the country. He expressed worry that some parents had shirked their parental responsibilities resulting in indiscipline

among some children. Rev. Opuni-Frimpong said the church would support the Police to comb= at crime in society. He said the Presbytery had planned to intensify its evangelism and reach=

out to prison inmates and

ex-convicts to transform their lives.
